Why the 0.5m Ribbon

The narrow roll is for the bits a wide roll cannot reach. Hallways, small bathrooms, around toilets, basins and other fixtures. At 0.5m wide it fits tight runs and awkward shapes where the 1m roll is too big. The mat is 1.8mm thick and is fitted within the insulation or rigid base and floor layers specified for the selected finish, and is covered by EkoBuild’s 15-year warranty from purchase, subject to our terms. AHT’s manufacturer cover is separate.

AHT Ribbon is a 1.8mm electric heating mat with a nominal output of 150W/m² of fitted mat. Choose whole stocked mats that fit the available floor, and check the complete floor construction, controls and room heat loss. Combine 0.5m and 1m widths where whole stocked mats fit.

Which floors can I use the 0.5m Ribbon under?

Choose a flooring product approved for underfloor heating and follow its temperature, thermal-resistance and installation limits. The Ribbon is 1.8mm thick, but insulation, underlay, rigid preparation and the floor finish add to the complete build-up.

Do I need screed under the Ribbon?

The Ribbon does not require a traditional deep screed. Its mat is 1.8mm thick, but the complete floor also includes the insulation or rigid base and any underlay, overlay, adhesive and finish specified for that assembly.

What length do I need?

Choose whole stocked lengths that fit your measured room and leave excluded furniture clear. The 0.5m Ribbon is stocked from 1.2m to 7m; never cut or shorten a heating element. Use the Room Designer to review the whole-mat layout and current stock prices.
